Let me know what you think ...
I support Ty answer - especially since I have never heard of Tortoise.
I am interested to him after reading some comments, however.
The only comparison I found was in a magazine that said, this is what Soft Machine "Third" would have been if it had been recorded "in modern".
You do not know if they are comparing it to the jazziness soft "Just all the time" ^ "facelift" or experimental "Moon in June" or minimalist "Out-Bloody-Rageous"
Anyway - listen Ty:)
As familiar as I am with krautrock and the Turtle .. I can not really help you here. I would say try all the other albums by Tortoise, but I'm sure you have.
Have you heard of Can Future Days? I bet you (I know it's not kraut post rock).
Back in the day when I tried to enter the post-rock bands because of my love for the best band I've ever met Tortoise was Do Make Say Think. Godspeed You! Black Emperor is correct, but the accumulations are really slow. I always thought that sucked Mogwai.
I would try to make a Pandora radio station and listen Tortoise similar groups. Or do Do Make Say Think try.
