Peoria County RecorderWhat to look for in the wiring of a house purchase

The electrical wiring of any home you consider purchasing a safety device that you should consider. Here are some tips to help you decide whether it is worthwhile to call a licensed electrician for an inspection.

  • A qualified electrician Recommend: Consider the age of the house and who built the house. We recommend you do some due diligence on the builder and know what kind of road map before it. If the house is less than 20 years and had no additions to the original floor plan, it is likely enough to have a Home Inspector General conduct an audit of the home place for all electrical problems. If the house has undergone many changes there are cabling or questionable (ie, unprotected wiring), you should consider having a professional outlet give a more accurate assessment of the house.
  • A qualified electrician Recommend: Find out if your service panel is original or has been successfully replaced by a qualified electrical contractor. Be sure to ask for documentation that the panel has been approved by the local city or county inspector. If the area of the house has increased dramatically to make sure that your panel amperage is acceptable for additional space.
  • A qualified electrician Recommend: Ensure that the inspector performs a thorough check of the attic to check the junction box or splicing unprotected open because of added channels. If there are no junction boxes that could pose a serious fire hazard.
  • A qualified electrician Recommend: Make sure all ceiling fans seems to be very firmly fixed to the ceiling.
  • A qualified electrician Recommend: Make sure all containers have a lid outside weatherproof and GFCI protection works in damp or wet.

This list represents some tips for buying a house and ensure that the inspector is looking for. There are other important factors to consider. If you notice any problems at all that we have described above, then make sure you hire a qualified electrician director, who is also willing to give you a written report.
