How much does it cost for a provisional patent application? and what does it .... I want to contact companies to tell them that I have an idea and hopefully sell them ..... allow provisional patent

I have three patents, and I have never heard this term.
and not - it probably will not help. unless your patent application is written by a law firm in the first professional class of the first movement of any company you approach will be to ask their lawyers the quality of your patent. when the response is to laugh, they ignore you and do what they think will make money without paying a dime you.
the law is that if you think they have infringed your patent, you must file a complaint. If you apparently can not do - Game, set and match for them.
