Notice Of Release Of Liability

Posted on June 3, 2010.
Notice Of Release Of LiabilityDo I need to submit the notice of transfer and release of liability?

I just returned from the DMV to transfer ownership of the new car owner. I just realized that the officer did not ask me to sign anything related to the notice of transfer and release of liability. Am I supposed to mail? Or do you think that since everything has been done at the DMV, it is not necessary to submit such a notice?

Since you're with, and know it was done, it is not necessary. The review is to ensure that those who have recently given a title by a purchaser are not left on the owner and get into trouble if the new owner does not transfer.

If you went to the DMV with the new owner and transfer the title, everything was taken care there. To verify that transfer took place (to ease your mind), contact the DMV and asked them to check the title was transferred. If the buyer has signed the DMV, it's fine, and you probably have signed disclosure forms of interest here, and do not know.
