How can you obtain a legal name change in Michigan? I change my name first because although my mother named me Ashley and there are plenty of stereotypes about that name. I live in Michigan and need help to outline how to change my legal name and how long it should take. Thank you!

If you are a minor, you must request permission from your parents. I guess that will not happen, so until then just change in your social circle. That is, take a nickname.
Petition for change of name of file with the circuit court and pay filing fees. The clerk will schedule a hearing on your petition for name change. Attend the hearing. The amount of time it takes to complete the process depends on how long the clerk may set a hearing date for you.
