The names of the parties
Details on the organization of the employer and the employee's full name and address.

Date of commencement of employment contract
This is important because it also includes a brief statement to mean that employment with a previous employer are not counted in the different rights that are acquired by employees after one year and two years of service. In other words the employee starts from scratch with the new employer. (Exceptions to this are where an employer has taken over an organization with existing employees - their labor rights are maintained.)

Job title of the employee and description
What usually follows the title and job description specified in the listing of recruitment and subsequent offer letter. To suit the employer, it also allows some flexibility in the role of the employee.

Workplace
The employment contract allows the employer to indicate where the employee will work. However, it also allows the employer to specify any other place in the future. This gives the employer greater flexibility.

Working Hours
hours the employee are specified in the contract of employment but the employee also agrees to work overtime if the employer makes reasonable request. However, hours can not exceed 48 hours per week as indicated by the Regulations on working time, (unless the employee has signed a voluntary opt-out of order).

Probation
An employer may determine a trial period for the employee with the option of a short notice period at the end of the trial, if the employee does not meet expectations. The employer may also extend the probationary period.

Wage
The details of the employee's gross earnings before tax, national insurance and deductions. It also specifies when payment is made.

Ratings
The employer can say when the employee will receive their first assessment and the timing of all subsequent regular evaluations, for example every 12 months.

Deductions
This clause details the circumstances under which the employer may make deductions from wages of the employee.

Spending
The employer may agree with the worker, whose work related expenses, and cover the employer when the employee will be reimbursed. However, to avoid errors and possible fraud of the clause, it is clear that proof of payment is required.

Holidays
This clause specifies when the holiday year runs from. This is important because the employer may wish to prevent employees from taking busy work periods at sea, for example at Christmas time for the hospitality, retail or entertainment. This clause also allows the employer to specify the number of days per year that an employee can take (subject to a legal minimum of 20 days) and if the holidays and the public are included or excluded from this. The clause also includes details on driving on vacation next year, restrictions on public holidays when the employee has already given notice of termination and pro rata payment in lieu of any unused holiday entitlement .

Sickness and disability
Absence due to illness is a major cost burden for employers. This clause states that when the employee must inform the employer that they will be unable to work, (it allows a third party to contact the employer on behalf of the employee). The clause also specifies when a certificate from a doctor is needed and whether the employee will receive statutory or contractual sick pay.
