Alaska Power Of Attorney

Posted on September 4, 2011.
Alaska Power Of AttorneyWhat is the power of attorney? Your parents more than you if you are eighteen and live in their house?

Well, in Alaska, we have what is called the PFD. Basically, it says you can apply on behalf of another adult [over eighteen years of] age: if they are disabled, if you have a proxy, or if they died. Well, I'm not dead. I am not disabled. But they hold a power of attorney over me? What is the power of attorney?

Your parents have no power over you if you're 18, unless you signed a document granting such power.

No. An attorney must be granted by an adult.
